Packing/Crating:

The crating and packaging of artworks and other fragile objects is a City Art speciality. We have crated complex sculptures, fragile and glazed artworks, computer research equipment, incubators and antique furniture. To avoid the all too common damage to valuable works of art incurred by inferior packaging, City Art crates provide a robust timber-battened plywood exterior housing and inner support system of shaped and fitted polyethylene foam and tyvek to ensure the precious cargo is cushioned within a firm, even-pressured yet static environment on its journey. Sturdy fastening methods and detailed instructions eliminate the possibility of works being damaged during the unpacking or repacking of the crates. City Art can comprehensively manage your freight, customs and insurance requirements. Having ISPM15 certification, an internationally required biosecurity specification, means that City Art can confidently manage all countries’ entry requirements.

A lighter packaging system using wrapping paper, bubble wrap and corrugated sheeting, foam and MDF provides a cheaper but robust protection for art in transit. City Art can package art works to a standard suitable for baggage check-in for international flights; oversee packing and transportation on behalf of clients of auction houses and other national or international sales outlets, or manage the transportation of art works requiring packing and freighting for shipment within New Zealand.
