About
Katie Hayles is an Ōtautahi based painter and recent honours graduate from the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts. She depicts vivid abstractions of nature, encapsulating the poetic lessons of nature. Her intuitive approach, through spontaneous, swift brushwork and freedom of colouristic expression, is employed to replicate the experience and movement of the natural world. Reflecting her respect and value for the environment, Hayles seeks to find the moments visual language expresses the existence of life.
